This summer, Stephens held a middle school Citizen Jane film camp and a high school/advanced filmmaking camp. The 30 future filmmakers created their own short films, bumpers and music videos — from writing the script to editing the final product.

Earlier this summer, young riders participated in Stephens College’s annual Summer Riding program, a Columbia tradition since the 1940s. Campers learned the basics of riding, horse care and safety from Stephens equestrian program faculty with assistance from current students.

The Stephens College Master of Fine Arts in TV and Screenwriting program[/academics/programs-of-study/sopa/mfa/] has awarded the inaugural Jan Marino Scholarship for Women Over 55 to Lesli “Z” Zephyr, a playwright and former U.S. Marine. Zephyr, who will begin her program of study in August, also was one of San Francisco’s first female teamsters.

This summer, Stephens College theatre students between their first and second years have participated in Summer Theatre Institute (STI), a six-week intensive on campus. During STI, students pursuing B.F.A. degrees in theatre arts and musical theatre receive intensive training from a variety of guest artists and directors while working to produce five shows. *Delainey Phillips ’18*, a recent graduate of the Stephens College theatre program and the School of Creative and Performing Arts, has been selected as the Constance W. McMillin Fellow for the 2018-19 theatrical season. The fellowship is funded by Constance McMillin ’59. McMillin is a long-term supporter of both Stephens and Theater Works, which is located in Peoria, Ariz., where she now makes her home.
