Stephens College announces fall campus visit dates

Stephens College has announced fall campus visit dates for prospective students and their families to explore firsthand what the College has to offer. The open houses, held from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., include the opportunity to explore the College’s academic programs, meet with faculty, tour campus with current students, and meet with financial aid to discover how affordable college can be.

Foster named Health Information Management Director

Dr. Susan L. Foster ’06 B.S., ’10 M.B.A. joined the Stephens faculty this fall as Health Information Management Director. Foster has worked for more than 25 years in health informatics and information management and higher education, serving as director of health information management at Missouri Western State University and Crowder College. She also is a Registered Health Information Administrator, is certified in healthcare privacy and security and has experience as a privacy officer.

Stephens’ rich history, Ten Ideals focus of annual Academic Opening Convocation

The Stephens College community came together on Thursday, Aug. 29, for Academic Opening Convocation in Lela Raney Wood Hall. Stephens marked the beginning of a new academic year by looking back on her history and contemplating the Ten Ideals through the perspectives of 10 students, alumnae, faculty and staff who were selected to relate stories about each Ideal.

Hemphill joins musical theatre faculty

Broadway actor Jennifer Hemphill has joined the Stephens College faculty this fall as assistant professor of musical theatre and coordinator of musical theatre. She will direct, choreograph and star in Stephens’ production of the hit ABBA show “Mamma Mia!” in September. Tickets are on sale starting today, Aug. 30.

Pedersen rejoins Stephens as visiting artist

Matthew Pedersen, a costume designer, wearable artist and stylist based in Brooklyn, New York, has returned to Stephens College as a visiting artist for the 2019-20 academic year. He will teach courses in the B.F.A. in Costume Design.

Darren Gibson, a dance director, ballet master and musical theatre performer, has rejoined Stephens College for the 2019-20 academic year. He will teach courses and mentor students in the B.F.A. in Musical Theatre.

Blakemore named Master of Physician Assistant Studies Director

Dr. Megan Blakemore, PA-C, was named director of the Master of Physician Assistant Studies program this past spring. An assistant professor in the PA program since its inception in 2016, Blakemore previously served as interim program director.
