The College is actively monitoring and surveilling local, national and international research (Johns Hopkins University in particular) and media sources to ensure decisions and planning are based on accurate, current information regarding COVID-19 epidemiology, risk mitigation strategy, policy and best practices.

Returning to campus

Stephens College staff and faculty have been working remotely since March 18, with essential employees continuing to work on campus as needed. This summer, we are embarking on a gradual return that aligns with guidance from the Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services. In committing to these important precautions, each of us is protecting the safety and health of all of us.

Staff will begin returning to campus in phases starting Monday, July 20. The Office of Academic Affairs announced a revised Fall 2020 Academic Calendar on June 16.

  • 12-month staff will return to campus in phases between July 20 and Aug. 3
  • Faculty and instructors will return to campus by mid-August

Online training

All employees will participate in an online training session prior to returning to work full time. This training will outline the policies and protocols that all Stephens employees will be required to follow. Those include social distancing, wearing masks in common spaces, washing hands and/or using hand sanitizer frequently, and sanitizing any public space or equipment after use.

The training will also cover staying home if you’re feeling sick, quarantining and/or isolating as necessary, and taking steps to be tested should you experience COVID-19 symptoms.

Health and safety

Our guiding principle is to promote and support the safety of the entire Stephens community. We are closely monitoring public health guidelines and have developed protocols and behaviors individuals can adopt to keep themselves and others safe. Before coming back to campus, each member of the community must agree to adopt these practices and take training on these measures.
