STEPHENS COLLEGE TO Confer degrees
in two COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Stephens College will confer 184 bachelor’s and 57 master’s degrees upon its graduates during two Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 15, 2010. A total of 204 graduates are expected to participate. Graduates of the Division of Graduate & Continuing Studies will receive their degrees at 10 a.m. and traditional undergraduate students will receive their diplomas at 2 p.m. Both ceremonies will be held in the John and Mary Silverthorne Arena on Dorsey Street. Prior to the undergraduate ceremony, faculty, administrators, trustees and graduates will process at 1:40 p.m. from the Journey Plaza. The plaza is located outside the Firestone Baars Chapel, which is near the northeast corner of Broadway and College Avenue.
Graduate & Continuing Studies ceremony:
Rose T. Dunn, past president of the American Health Information Management Association, will deliver the keynote address. Kirsten Burnfin of Gladstone, Mo., will be the class speaker. Burnfin, who will graduate with a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction, is a third-grade teacher at Gordon Parks Elementary in Kansas City, Mo. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Stephens College in 1999.
Traditional Undergraduate ceremony:
Stephens College President Dianne Lynch will deliver the keynote address. Alexandra Abrams of Little Rock, Ark., who will graduate cum laude with a B.S. in Mass Media, will be the class speaker. She plans to pursue a career in media advertisement.
