Stephens College welcomed alumna Joan Ranquet '82, internationally recognized animal communicator, back to campus February 5-9th for a series of engaging sessions focused on human-animal interactions.

Ranquet, known for her deep understanding of the emotional and spiritual connections between humans and animals, spent time with students from various programs, as well as those who are pet parents or are fostering pets on campus through our partnership with Columbia Second Chance.

She spent time at the Stables with Dr. Marx's PSY 380 Human/Animal Interactions undergraduate students, engaging in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT). This hands-on session allowed students to explore the profound connections between humans and horses, enabling deeply personal transformations.

Ranquet also engaged with student athletes and graduate students in Dr. Kissinger's COUN 535 Foundations of Marriage & Family Counseling class. Her insights into the dynamics of human-animal relationships provided valuable perspectives on non-verbal communication for students pursuing careers in counseling and beyond.

While on campus, Joan devoted some time to hosting three student workshops for pet owners and Second Chance fosters. These events aimed to educate on enhancing the relationships between pet parents and their animal companions. Using intuitive animal communication and EFT, students explored new ways to connect with their pets and build bridges of understanding.

Ranquet's visit culminated in an evening talk with the Columbia community and the Stephens College campus on Thursday evening. Her presentation offered profound insights into the world of animal communication and human-animal connections. Following the talk, attendees had the opportunity to meet Ranquet during a book signing session, where she shared her wisdom with eager enthusiasts.

Joan Ranquet's visit to Stephens College provided students, faculty, staff, and community members alike with a unique opportunity to explore the deep bonds that exist between humans and animals, enriching their understanding of the world around them and fostering deeper connections with animals and the self.
