Growing up, Margeaux Larson used her imagination to escape into fantastical worlds of beauty, space, and peace.
In these worlds, inspired by nature in her real-life backyard, her biggest concern was which lovely flower to pick.
Fast-forward to May 2023, as Margeaux was about to graduate from Stephens with a BFA in Fashion Design and Product Development. In her stunning senior collection featured in the 2023 Fashion Show, Margeaux brought her imaginings to life.
“Over the Garden Wall is a collection where a girl can escape from the outside world and her problems/worries to a perfect English garden where she can be free,” she shares. “Throughout the collection this girl transforms and becomes one with the garden.”
Recently, Margeaux and Over the Garden Wall were honored by the Surface Design Association (SDA) with an Outstanding Student Award which recognizes students who have demonstrated excellence in fiber arts.
The work of these artists embodied inventive and innovative use of technique, materials, and concepts not only in fibers and textiles, but in printmaking, sculpture, and more.
About the Outstanding Student awards, SDA says, “The work of these artists embodied inventive and innovative use of technique, materials, and concepts not only in fibers and textiles, but in printmaking, sculpture, and more. It is an honor for the Education Committee to be able to see student work, review it, and learn more about the personal and societal issues they are tackling through their work.”
