Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational institutions that receive federal financial assistance.

 

Definitions

Sexual harassment may constitute a form of sex-based discrimination prohibited by Title IX. It is important to understand the definition of sexual harassment includes sexual violence. Stephens College does not tolerate sex- or gender-based discrimination, sexual harassment or sexual violence of any kind.

Offenses of Stephens’ Sex- and Gender-based Discrimination and Harassment Policy include, but are not limited to:

  • Sex- or gender-based discrimination
  • Sexual harassment
  • Non-consensual sexual intercourse 
  • Non-consensual sexual contact
  • Sexual exploitation
  • Intimate partner violence
  • Stalking
