Stephens College theatre student Winona Wiley ’19 recently received Honorable Mention in the National Dramaturgy Competition of the regional Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) in Sioux Falls, S.D. She earned the award for her work as assistant to the director/dramaturg on When We Were Young and Unafraid, a Spring 2018 Playhouse Theatre Company production at Stephens.
Stephens classmates Denise Angieri ’19, Sofia Garcia ’20 and Mackenna Morrow ’19, as well as Stephens faculty adviser Timo Aker, also attended the KCACTF Region V festival, which comprises Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
During the festival, which ran from Jan. 20-26, students had the opportunity to compete in acting, directing and dramaturgy, and attended workshops.
“We were so proud to represent Stephens at such a big festival and are so thankful to all those who helped make this trip possible,” Wiley said. “We all learned so much and got to meet so many incredible people.”
Wiley also made it into the final round of the SDC (stage directors and choreographers) competition for her scene “The Moors,” in which she directed her fellow classmates. (Shown below.)
