Dr. Susan L. Foster ’06 B.S., ’10 M.B.A. joined the Stephens faculty this fall as Health Information Management Director. Foster has worked for more than 25 years in health informatics and information management and higher education, serving as director of health information management at Missouri Western State University and Crowder College. She also is a Registered Health Information Administrator, is certified in healthcare privacy and security and has experience as a privacy officer. 

“Committed to quality online instruction, Dr. Foster has been a leader in regional health information management associations,” said School of Health Sciences Dean Julia A. Moffitt. “She is putting together an innovative program that will build upon the longstanding history of success in our undergraduate Health Information Administration program.”

Foster’s research includes online education and adult learning styles, and she currently is participating in research on knowledge transfer in an interdisciplinary study abroad course. She serves on the American Health Information Management Association Council for Excellence in Education Curriculum Workgroup and recently was elected director of education for the Missouri Health Information Management Association.

“Stephens College is known for its exceptional education and the promotion of women as leaders,” Foster said. “As an alumna, I am very excited to be part of the Stephens experience, and for the opportunity to continue in the tradition of creating learning experiences for students globally. Foster obtained both her B.S. in Health Information Administration and her M.B.A. with an emphasis in Clinical Information Systems from Stephens College, and a Doctor of Education in Instructional Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education Administration from Lindenwood University.
