Three Stephens College School of Creative and Performing Arts students, Sarah Martin ’19, Erika Martinez ’19 and Hope Pena ’19, attended the Citizens for the Arts Day on Feb. 6 at the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, Mo. This year marked the fourth time the School of Creative and Performing Arts participated in the event that is annually hosted by Missouri Citizens for the Arts (MCA).

Three Stephens College fashion program students have each received $5,000 scholarships from the YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund. The School of Design students, Joyce Gayo ’20, Haylee Johnson ’19 and Brandy Shaw ’19, were honored as recipients at the annual YMA gala in New York City this January.

Stephens College theatre student Winona Wiley ’19 recently received Honorable Mention in the National Dramaturgy Competition of the regional Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) in Sioux Falls, S.D.

The Stephens College Equestrian Studies program has been recognized nationally once again. One of Stephens’ horses, Far Away Crazy Cat (also known as CC) has been named the American Saddlebred Horse Association’s National High Point Champion in her division for 2018.

Stephens College student Olivia Catt ’20 recently received a $1,000 fashion merchandising/marketing/management scholarship from the Fashion Group International of Saint Louis. She and her fellow scholarship recipients presented their work at a style and scholarship event on Nov. 27 in St. Louis.

Stephens College held its December 2018 Commencement ceremonies on Dec. 14 in the Kimball Ballroom of Lela Raney Wood Hall. A total of 75 degrees were conferred by Stephens College President Dianne Lynch. Among the graduates were the 20 members of the inaugural graduating class of the College’s Master of Physician Assistant Studies (M.P.A.S.) Program. Stephens College saddle seat students earned several top ribbons at the UPHA American Royal National Championship Horse Show, which was held from Nov. 5-10 in Kansas City, Mo. Kelsey Haney ’19, riding Harlem’s Heirospace, won the Three-Gaited Missouri/Kansas Amateur qualifier and the championship. In addition, Madeleine Oliver ’22, riding The King’s Lady Anne, finished as Reserve Champion in both events behind Haney, and Mallory Stacy ’19, riding Tango Till Dawn, was Reserve Champion in a 15 horse Missouri/Kansas Three-Gaited Show Pleasure Championship.
