Anyone who has ever met Janet Reinschmidt ’18 knows she’s crazy about film archiving and film history. So when Tegan Zimmerman, assistant professor of English and creative writing at Stephens College, told her student about a summer internship with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences film archive in Los Angeles, Reinschmidt wasted no time applying.

Stephens duo receives prestigious YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund scholarships

Two Stephens College fashion students—one for the second consecutive year—are among the 226 recipients nationwide of the highly competitive 2018 YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF) scholarships. Each student will receive $5,000 from the YMA FSF, which is the fashion industry’s leading educational nonprofit, granting the largest sum of money and total number of scholarships.

Liz Isherwood balanced school, family and full-time job to obtain graduate degree

Twenty-two years after earning her bachelor’s degree, Liz Isherwood ’17 enrolled in the Master of Education in Counseling program at Stephens College. At the time, the 48-year-old was a wife, mother and full-time community support specialist at Burrell Behavioral Health in Columbia. Making time for college would be tough. But Isherwood was determined, and Stephens was willing to make it work.

Anna Torchia ’17 was 13 and playing a munchkin in a community theater production of “The Wizard of Oz” when she first heard about Stephens College. The young woman playing Dorothy told her she would be attending Stephens and that Toto was coming to college, too.

Seven earn AMC Volleyball Academic All-Conference nod

The 2017 American Midwest Conference Volleyball Academic All-Conference list was prior to Tuesday evening's Quarterfinals round of the American Midwest Conference Tournament. Seven Stars' players received the recognition prior to the start of their match at Columbia College. In addition, Halan Mann[http://www.stephensstars.com/roster/14/7/934.php] was recognized as a member of the AMC Champions of Character team.

Best in Show among honors received as Stephens Life earns more design awards

Stephens Life, a student-run magazine, has once again come home a winner from the national College Media Convention. Among the many accolades, the Associated College Press (ACP) recognized Stephens Life as a Pacemaker Award winner. The Pacemaker is considered the Pulitzer Prize of collegiate publications. The winners were announced during the convention, which was held Oct. 25-29 in Dallas.

Stephens singers bring home awards from three-state voice competition

Three Stephens College singers took home prizes during a three-state event hosted by the National Association of Teachers of Singers (NATS) Central Region on Oct. 28-29. Sicily Mathenia ’18 received first place in the Upper College Women Musical Theatre category while Natalie Irlmeier ’20, and Mackenna Morrow ’19 took home second and third places, respectively, in the Lower College Women Musical Theatre category. Each winner received a certificate and a cash award.

Stephens' Summer Film Institute production will show at 10th anniversary Citizen Jane Film Festival

A short film that was produced, shot and edited by digital film students at Stephens College will premiere this weekend during the 10th annual Citizen Jane Film Festival, which runs Oct. 26-29, 2017 on the Stephens campus. “Chasing AllieCat” a 14-minute film directed by Steph Borklund, assistant professor of digital film, will be shown as part of the festival’s “Ms. Ouri Made” short films, which begin at 10 a.m., Oct. 28 in the Warehouse Theatre.

More national nominations pour in for Stephens Life magazine

Stephens Life, the student magazine of Stephens College, is on a roll. For the second time in less than a month, the magazine has been nominated for a national award. This time, the Associated College Press (ACP) nominated the “Eat” story in the Fall 2016 issue for Design of the year in the Yearbook/Magazine Page/Spread category.
