Learn more about it on this flyer >
You’ll gain valuable direct patient care experience while working in a real patient care setting — learning by doing as part of the Boone Health family.
How the Program Works
This five-week course is the state-approved Patient Care Technician course and includes 175 hours (75 classroom hours and 100 supervised clinical hours as an employee of Boone Health). After completing the course, taught by nurse educators at Boone Health, you’ll be eligible for a part-time job that really makes a difference.
The PCT Academy is open to both women and men. Women accepted into the PCT program may apply to live in the Stephens College residence halls, just steps away from Boone Health, during the five-week course. More information about housing will be available upon acceptance to the PCT program.
Students interested in the PCT Academy may also be interested in applying to the Stephens College nursing program.
How to Apply
Acceptance into the program is by application and interview through Boone Health. All applicants must complete the application process, including an interview, drug testing and background check.
Our next session begins on September 25, 2023.
Note: Acceptance into either the BHC PCT Academy or Stephens College undergraduate program does not guarantee acceptance into both programs.
What is a Patient Care Technician?
A PCT performs various direct patient care functions and works closely with a nurse to ensure our patients receive the highest level of personal care. In this program, you’ll receive both classroom and hands-on instruction in direct patient care to prepare you to be a PCT. The role is a perfect stepping stone for those interested in becoming a Registered Nurse.
After you complete the PCT training, you’ll be a Boone Health Flex PCT and a valuable part of the Boone Health family. Flex PCT positions are paid but non-benefit eligible, and hours are not guaranteed.
