The Stephens College Historic Costume Museum presents two gallery shows each year, and is pleased to welcome guests to this fall's exhibition. This exhibition will feature two 1930s evening gowns inspired by the Academy Award winning Hollywood star, Joan Crawford (1904-1977).  In addition to these special pieces, the exhibition will include two suits designed by Crawford’s favorite MGM costume designer, Gilbert Adrian, and a 1930s suit by Elsa Schiaparelli who influenced Adrian’s signature silhouettes.  Spanning more than three decades, Joan Crawford had one of the most enduring careers in Hollywood.  Yet before she became a flapper icon in the late 1920s, in 1922 Crawford was a fledgling student at Stephens College who covered room and board by working in the dining room at Senior Hall.  Among the pieces to go on exhibition are never-before-exhibited archives pertaining to Crawford’s time at Stephens and her ongoing correspondence with President James Wood in the succeeding decades.
