The Fashion Program is an invited participant in the Education Initiatives Programs sponsored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America for the 2013-14 school year.
Beginning August 2014
Responsibilities: Teaching and advising undergraduate students in the Fashion Program, service to the College and continued professional development and scholarship. Teaching responsibilities include introductory and advanced courses within the Fashion Program. Courses taught may include but are not limited to: visual merchandising and design, technology for fashion presentation, art direction and photo styling, fashion promotional events, market research, fashion design & product development, internship courses, survey of fashion, history of costume and related scholarship, fashion show production, buying for fashion, creative direction and senior capstone and portfolio. Specific course assignments will be dependent on qualifications. Working closely with faculty and the dean of the School of Fashion and Design, the successful candidate will have the ability to shape the on-going development of the fashion curriculum across the four Fashion Program degrees.
Required qualifications: A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in the fashion industry within the areas of fashion product development, marketing and/or visual merchandising; Terminal degree (MFA or Ph.D.) with at least one degree in fashion or apparel; evidence of ability to manage and coach groups toward mastery of the skills needed to succeed in the global fashion marketplace; demonstrated accomplishments in developing connections with industry to provide opportunities for student and departmental projects; strong skill base in both written and visual communications that come from an informed fashion perspective.
Preferred qualifications: M.S./M.A. or MBA with at least one degree in fashion or apparel. Experience with Visual Retail Software, Adobe Creative Suite, Gerber Patternmaking, Kaledo, TMS/museum collections management software.
