International study enriches your personally while making you more competitive in the workforce.

Spring 2020 conversation with Admissions Counselor Madison Burke '17, Study Abroad Coordinator Dr. Jim Terry, and Stephens students who studied abroad in various locations.

Enhance your Major

Stephens College offers study abroad opportunities tailored to enhance every educational pursuit. Programs in London are perfect for those interested in theatre, filmmaking or fashion. Students studying marketing may choose to expand their skills in locations such as Rome, Mumbai, Seoul and Stockholm. Dancers can dance in Paris. Writers can write in Ireland. Scientists can explore the ecosystems of South and Central America. No matter the interest, study abroad offers you a new window through which to see the world and your place in it.

A recent survey of corporate leaders in the U.S. found that experiences abroad are widely recognized as a desirable trait for job candidates. The study found that those with overseas experience have advantages such as:

  • The ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of international policies and practices
  • Stronger communication skills
  • Adaptability to change
  • More initiative and creativity

International Internships

In addition to studying, many of our study abroad programs offer elite internships and educational volunteer opportunities during the summer or school year. These priceless opportunities provide hands-on experience in career development abroad while also fostering your understanding of global cultures.

Learn a Language

Speaking a foreign language is an excellent complement to a study abroad experience. As international cooperation increases in business, the arts, sciences and other fields, fluency in two or more languages will ensure that you stand out. Whether your interest is in Spanish, Arabic, French or Italian, Stephens College Study Abroad will give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture where the language is spoken, enabling you to communicate on a direct and personal level.
