At the annual student designer fashion show, students apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to a real runway setting.

This much-anticipated juried event is held each spring in a tradition going back to 1944.

The Collections highlights student designers, models, and an array of talented individuals. The show is entirely planned and produced by students, making this event a showcase of Stephens’ talent.

Our Fashion Design + Product Development students work all school year to turn their concepts into designs and designs into garments. Students are charged with coming up with creative denim and weekend wear, contemporary sportswear, and tailored designs. Fashion design seniors are responsible for entire collections. Specialty design categories such as garments with a social cause or engineered printing on fabric are part of the runway experience each year.

Industry experts serve on the Jury of Selection, the panel responsible for determining which pieces will be highlighted in the show.

Our student + alumnae designers have international cred.

Three students and a recent graduate of Stephens’ fashion design and product development program were featured at New York Fashion Week (NYFW). Catherine Hake ’19, Jillian Turner ’20, Samantha Knaust ’20 and Rose Carter ’20 showcased their collections to an international audience of designers and media houses. Stephens students and graduates also have presented their collections at Kansas City Fashion Week and at the FACTORY Fashion Show in St. Louis.

Some of the program’s remarkable alumnae include Amy Bond ’92, Project Runway participant (2004) and producer of Netflix’s new reality show Next in Fashion (2020); and illustrator and painter Gretchen Röehrs ’12, whose work has appeared in The New York Times, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

While in school, our students enjoy career-focused internships with companies like Nordstrom, Lancome, Victoria’s Secret, Bottega Veneta, Anthropologie, Cosmopolitan magazine, Calvin Klein, Marie Claire, and top national ad agencies.
