The Summer Theatre Institute at Stephens College is a six ½-week intensive program for students between their first and second year. It includes a variety of foundational classes and labs in acting, movement, theatre dance, voice and diction, stage combat, script analysis, commedia dell’arte and musical theatre.
Students are also involved in the preparation of a fully produced, five-show season. In addition to performing, students assist in costuming, technical theatre, theatre administration and publicity.
STI gives students the opportunity to experience a real-world production schedule. It allows you to take the theatrical knowledge acquired during your first year of college and apply it within the experience of a conservatory schedule with rigorous production demands. STI is an introduction to the summer stock and repertory theatre experience.
All performances are free and open to the public.
