Hospitals, clinics and other health-related agencies are looking for qualified HIA professionals. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, growth in this field is expected to not only continue but outpace many other industries. We were the first to offer a distance-learning program for health information management professionals and we’re still the innovators today. We have a long tradition of providing a solid HIA education that delivers a comprehensive understanding of business administration; healthcare systems; and medical and ethical requirements so students get the credentials they need (and conveniently, too). We’re proud of our long-standing excellent exam pass rate, and we are members of AHIMA and active in the industry.
As reported through the CAHIIM Annual Program Assessment Report, for the year 2015-16, Stephens had a total of 111 students enrolled in the HIA program. Thirty-one graduates were surveyed. Of those that responded, 20 were working in healthcare, 2 in non-healthcare positions and 8 in higher education within one year after completing the program.
The Health Information Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).
