School Counseling Track
Professional School Counselors help students address their personal, social, educational and career needs in elementary, middle and high schools. Our faculty will prepare you to implement a comprehensive school counseling program (such as the ASCA National Model and the Missouri Comprehensive School Counseling Model).
Our program is approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to educate and recommend students for DESE certification as school counselors.
Our program is well-known for producing competent and prepared school counselors; currently, our graduates have a 90% placement rate.
Employment of school counselors is expected to grow 13 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than average for all occupations. Increasing school enrollments is expected to lead to employment growth in this profession. Learn more about the job outlook for school counselors.
