Stephens scholars take dedicated 200-level general education courses in a wide-range of disciplines. These courses are designed by full-time faculty for advanced students who are eager to participate in timely intellectual discourse and rigorous scholarship. Recent topics include contemporary international fiction, the beauty and form of math, and global perspectives of 20th century America. Students continue to be taught, mentored and advised by Fulbright Scholars and other faculty experts throughout their college career.
The program is open to first-year students who have at least a 3.5 GPA and an ACT composite of 25 or higher (or SAT 1220 composite or higher). MACC students interested in the Stephens Honors program should contact their adviser.
When you become a Stephens Scholar, you join a network of nearly 100 peers who value your knowledge, leadership skills, curiosity and love of learning.
Learning goes beyond the classroom to the community with trips to explore careers and meet women who are excelling in their industries. For example, Scholars recently visited a nuclear reactor, a neonatal intensive care unit, and an art gallery. In addition, Stephens Scholars benefit from specially invited guest speakers.
