Being a star surrounded by an awesome, built-in support system isn’t the only perk of going to Stephens. Included in tuition are numerous perks, some of which are more commonly known and a few that could be news to you.
As of last year, Stephens began offering free laundry. This is a luxury that many dorm inhabitants aren’t as lucky to have. Who wants to search for quarters every time they need to wash their jeans?
Another benefit of Stephens is having a free gym located right on campus. Sure, it isn’t the biggest but with over 22 new pieces of equipment, it gets the job done. Imagine going to Mizzou and paying nearly $150 to use your campus gym. Having the gym located closer and be exclusively our own isn’t bad either.
Many students are aware of our equipment closet. Here, students commonly check out digital SLR cameras and all the equipment that goes along with them: tripods, lights and anything needed for a quality photo shoot. It is less known that this service is not limited to camera equipment. Mark Brunner, director of information and technology services, shared that the closet also houses iPads, PC laptops and projectors for students to utilize.
“We’re pretty open to try anything,” Brunner said. IT commonly helps students with small issues regarding campus computers like resetting passwords, dealing with sometimes unreliable WiFi signals and solving printing issues, but Stephens IT can help you with your personal computer, too. IT services come at a low price – free. IT will take a look at student’s laptops and if it is a small issue they will actually fix it for you. If you need a part, they will install it for you after you purchase it. Stephens College IT services work with both Mac and PC and even house an Apple certified Mac technician.
Finally, when you just need someone to vent to or are feeling really stressed out about that pesky computer, go visit the counseling center. Every student is allotted 12 free sessions with one of the counselors. Everyone should take advantage of this and clear your head with some new perspective every once in awhile.
While we may not understand or love every rule on campus, we have many reasons to love our school. Are there any perks you know about or would like to see? Like us on Facebook or tweet us at @Stephens_Life with your input.
