Stephens’s women are gearing up for the annual year end fashion show, showcasing the designs from the fashion design and product development department. Preparations for this event require a good amount of blood, sweat and tears from our fashion design majors and the fashion department as a whole.
Students work hard and strenuous hours every day preparing the garments, all leading up to the first test the design students had to endure was the nerve wrecking Jury of Selection which took place March 16th at the Columbia Performing Arts Center. Models showed up around 8am anxiously waiting the designers. The event started at 9am.
The event reflected what goes on backstage at fashion week. A second year fashion design major and model Emily Horner noted the chaos of the day.
“Backstage was complete chaos, but we knew it was for a good cause,” Horner said.
Both designers and models were running around making last minute touches just before models took the stage.
“It was a good experience. I enjoyed watching all of the pieces come to life,” Kara Henry, second year design major and model, said
Jury of Selection took place to see what pieces are worthy enough of going down the runway in the show. “The Collections” is was April 20 in Windsor Auditorium at 2pm, 4:30pm and 7pm.
The women have been working long and hard all year in order to make this show a success.
