Fashion Show Explores "The Collections"
Inspired by the progression of workroom to runway, the Stephens College School of Fashion & Design presents "The Collections," the 69th Annual Student Designer Fashion Show on April 20.
This year, "The Collections" will feature Fashion Design and Product Development student work, transformed from an initial concept to become an apparel design reality for the runway.
Designers will present garments in the categories of swimwear, career sportswear, tailored design and Breaking the Pattern, a category in which all garments are constructed from pink, non-apparel materials under a budget of $50. The senior design students will present individual collections they have spent the entire year researching, designing and constructing.
The garments being presented during "The Collections" were previously chosen by a jury of selection on March 16. Couture specialist Claire Schaeffer, Quenchwear designer Wendy Manasse and London College of Fashion Study Abroad Director Basia Szkutnicka were among the industry experts who selected the student designs to be featured in the show.
"The Collections" will take place at 2, 4:30 and 7 p.m. in Windsor Auditorium, located at 1405 East Broadway.
Student priced tickets are available with a valid school ID for $10. General admission is $15 and preferred seating is $25. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at http://stephensfashion.eventbrite.com.
The Collections coincides with Stephens College Alumnae Weekend.
