Journalism, film students team up
to bring campus news to CAT TV
The staff of Stephens Life is taking campus news to the small screen. Starting Feb. 8, Stephens Life News will begin airing live at 3:30 p.m. every Friday on Columbia Access Television.
The 30-minute broadcast will be a weekly wrap-up of some of the best stories of the week from the Stephens Life website. Watch for campus news, features, seasonal tips and weather and entertainment segments.
The show is a collaboration between Joshua Nichol-Caddy’s advanced reporting class and Chase Thompson’s advanced studio production class, allowing the instructors to incorporate real-world experiences into their curricula.
The broadcast is also part of a series of changes Stephens Life has made this year to better reflect industry trends. In addition to keeping its website updated with the latest news, the staff also write, edit and produce a news magazine every semester.
Want a sneak peek? Check out the video from a trial run held Feb. 1 on the Stephens Life YouTube channel. Future programs will also be available on YouTube for those who can’t watch on Friday afternoons.
