I absolutely hate horror films.
I think it began when I watched “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” at the tender age of 13. The images were seared in my impressionable young brain. And then I spent more than a decade living alone, so I didn’t need anything adding to my already vivid imagination.
So I won’t be seeing “You’re Next,” the horror flick shot in Columbia that’s hitting the big screen this weekend. But I am proud of my colleague Corey Ransberg who served as the set photographer on the movie. Corey is our multimedia producer and is responsible for those great videos you see on our website.
Corey’s photos from the movie set have appeared all over the country: The New York Times, USA Today, ABC, Entertainment magazine to name a few.
Here’s one of his shots that ran in yesterday’s Columbia Daily Tribune alongside Scott A. May’s official review.
The Tribune also ran a great column by Pete Bland calling the film Columbia’s “brashest and brassiest foray yet into the mainstream movie universe.”
So, while I probably won’t be next, if you’re braver than I am I encourage you to go see the film and support the local crew, including a member of Stephens’ own.
