When I stepped on the scale this morning, the number was officially 10 below the number it was on Jan. 1.
Now, keep in mind I have many extra 10s, so I’m not anywhere near the size I should be. But if I lose a couple more pounds, I will see a number on that scale that I haven’t seen since 2006.
As you know, the 56 stairs leading to my office has helped, as has the healthier post-reporter lifestyle. Of course, being sick didn’t hurt. Well, it actually did hurt, but it didn’t hurt on the diet front.
I was just wondering how I’m going to achieve the next 10 when I came across this.
“Five Steps Toward a Leaner You” on a website called “Delightfully Fit.”
I figure I’m already taking 56 steps upstairs every day, what are five more?
The tips come from Tandy Gutierrez, a Certified Pilates Instructor and fitness guru who has worked with celebrity clients.
Tandy, like many well-rounded, healthy female professionals out there, is a Stephens alumna.
And she seriously radiates health. Check out her photo:
You can read the entry yourself, but Tandy tells us basically to drink lots of water (hey, that sounds familiar), to rest and to choose a workout you like.
She also makes a common sense point about diet foods. For years and years, I lived on a certain microwavable product with the word “Lean” in the name and sure enough it was only after years of this “lean” diet that I found myself with all those extra 10s. Tandy explains that my body apparently had no idea how to process all of the chemicals that made said products “lean,” so I ended up gaining weight.
Tandy also tells us—and I did not realize this—that actual body changes happen when you’re resting, not working out, which actually worked in my favor this weekend since that’s pretty much all I did.
But, alas, she concludes that I have to keep working out, changing routines every four weeks or so, if I don’t want my body to get too comfortable and revert back to its stubborn ways.
Tandy also suggests I visualize results and imagine how it would feel to actually see them.
Oh, I am, Tandy. I am.
