Slap Happy – Celebrating the art of stage combat

Smash, bam, bonk! Guest director/actress Cynthia Hyer and master fight director Martin English (Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, fight choreographer) take the STI company on a wild ride, staging some of the theatre’s greatest fight scenes. Don’t forget to duck!

Adaptation: Blown Sideways Through Life by Claudia – A comedy with heart

Ever wonder what actors do all day while waiting for that big break? The STI company will adapt selections from Broadway actress Claudia Shear’s brilliant, funny, moving memoir about the 64 jobs she landed on the way to the “big time.” A hilarious tour de resume with a universal lesson learned about life in the workplace.

Devising Mischief – An original, company-devised, commedia/clowning show

“Devising” has become an essential performance skill for today’s theatre artist. Guest artist Matt Weiss (Ringling Bros. trained clowning specialist and cast member of the CBS hit show “Elementary”) and internationally recognized commedia dell’Arte specialist Heidi Van (artistic curator of Kansas City’s exciting Fishtank Theatre) join forces to guide the STI company in devising a sparking, original performance piece employing the magical art of physical theatre. Sure to charm!
