Dr. Judith Clark Inspires Students as Outstanding Sponsor
Dr. Judith Clark, Stephens English/Creative Writing department chair and professor, has been named Sigma Tau Delta’s Outstanding Regional Sponsor for the Midwestern Region. She is a two-time recipient of the award that recognizes sponsors who give generously of their time, talent, and creativity to a local chapter.
Members of Stephens’ Sigma Tau Delta chapter, Alpha Epsilon Eta, nominated Dr. Clark for the award. In the letter, they wrote of her dedication to the chapter:
Professor Clark’s dedication to leadership, scholarship and community has not changed in the sixteen years since she founded Alpha Epsilon Eta—except, perhaps, to grow stronger. She remains an invaluable source of inspiration and guidance to her chapter members as they make their own way in the literary world and continue their pursuit of sincerity, truth and design.
The award will be presented at the 2012 Sigma Tau Delta International Convention on March 1 in New Orleans. Stephens student Janice Clawson also will read her writing at the annual conference.
Stephens’ Sigma Tau Delta chapter, Alpha Epsilon Eta, was recognized for 15 years of service at last year’s national convention. The last two years, Harbinger, Stephens’ literary arts magazine, also won first place for Outstanding Literary Arts Journal.
Dr. Clark earned a Ph.D. from Miami University, an M.A. from Kansas State Teachers College, and a B.A. from Lindenwood College.
