STEPHENS COLLEGE ANNOUNCES
NEW HEAD WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACH
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Stephens College has announced Bill Bixon as the new head women's basketball coach. He will begin his duties on Aug. 2, 2010. Bixon previously served as the assistant women’s basketball coach at Webster University in St. Louis, where he helped lead the team to a 2009-2010 second-place finish in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
“Coach Bixon brings extensive coaching experience and a passion for the game to Stars Basketball,” said Deb Duren, Stephens athletic director and vice president for student service. “We are very excited to have Coach Bixon as a part of our athletic program. He understands the important role he plays as a coach in helping to ensure our student-athletes achieve academic success while competing on the collegiate level.”
Bixon has coached as an assistant and head coach for eight years at the collegiate and high school levels in the St. Louis area. He earned a B.S. in Psychology from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and an M.Ed. in Athletic/Activities Administration from William Woods University.
Stephens is a member of the American Midwest Conference (AMC) of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The College has teams in basketball, cross country, softball, tennis and volleyball.
