COLUMBIA, Mo.— The Stephens Summer Theatre Institute (STI) will present free summertime performances beginning on Friday, May 21, 2010. As part of the three-year, two-summer Bachelor of Fine Arts program, STI gives Stephens first-year theatre students the opportunity to spend their summer producing, directing and acting in four different performances. STI is an intense, fast-paced learning environment where students are exposed to the realities of show business.

All summer performances are open to the public and will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Warehouse Theatre, 104 Willis Ave., except for the “Musical Revue,” which will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Macklanburg Playhouse, 100 Willis Ave. The STI performance schedule is as follows:

An Evening of Children's Theatre
7:30 p.m., May 21
Join the STI company for a free evening of children's theatre for all ages. There'll be fables and fairy tales and fun for the whole family. Arrive early as seats always fill up fast!

With Sprinkles on Top
7:30 p.m., June 4
Cool off with us as we present a night of world premiere short plays inspired by ice cream! It’s a fast-moving, mind-bending night of fun created entirely by the STI company. Suitable for ages 12 and up.

Combat!
7:30 p.m., June 18
Come experience an evening of sword fights, kicking, punching, pratfalls, comedy, drama, Shakespeare and tumbling all in the confines of the intimate Warehouse Theatre. Suitable for ages 12 and up. Ninjas welcome.

Musical Revue
7:30 p.m., June 28
The annual STI tradition returns! Join us as our fabulously talented company presents some of Broadway's most-loved material; it's an evening of song and dance you won't soon forget. The Musical Revue is standing-room-only every year, so arrive early to reserve your seats! Suitable for all ages.
