STEPHENS COLLEGE TO HOLD
66TH ANNUAL STUDENT DESIGNER FASHION SHOW
Columbia, Mo. – Students of the Stephens College School of Design and Fashion return to the runway as the 66th annual student designer fashion show, “Nu Luxe,” makes its debut. “Nu Luxe” will be showing on Saturday, April 17th at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m. in Windsor Auditorium, 1405 E. Broadway, on the Stephens College campus. For ticket prices and more information, please visit www.stephensfashion.com.
According to organizers, “Nu Luxe” represents a craving for opulence. Unattainable elements - represented by sparkling crystals - contrast with metal and chains, and together they expose the modern-day obsession with a luxurious life.
The fashion show brings together the creative designs of fashion students at Stephens College. Categories within the show include swimwear, weekend wear, active wear, career wear, tailored design, and senior design collections. Sponsored by several Columbia businesses and by the Stephens College School of Design and Fashion, students have made their designs exclusively for “Nu Luxe.”
Prior to presenting their designs in the show, students must participate in Jury of Selection, a process during which industry professionals evaluate students on creativity, effectiveness of design, marketability and reflection of current trends, textile usage, workmanship, construction, and fit.
The fashion show is hosted annually by the Stephens College Fashion Department and is produced by the fashion show production class taught by alumna Stephanie LaHue. Throughout this course, students have the ability to showcase their skills in public relations and fashion promotion, marketing, design, and set construction. Through the School of Design and Fashion, Stephens College offers degrees in Fashion Design and Product Development, Fashion Marketing and Management, Fashion Communication, Graphic Design, and Interior Design.
Stephens College, established in 1833, is historically committed to meeting the changing needs of women. Stephens engages students in an innovative educational experience focused on pre-professional fields and the performing arts and grounded in the liberal arts.
