TRUE CONFESSIONS OF A HIGH-HEELED LEADER PRESENTS
A CONVERSATION WITH ANNE DEATON

WHAT: Hors d'oeuvres and wine followed by a conversation with a "high-heeled leader."
This event is free and open to the public.

Held once a year and featuring various women leaders, True Confessions is sponsored by the Graduate Business Programs within Stephens College Graduate & Continuing Studies. Stephens’ graduate business programs are geared toward women.

WHO: Anne Deaton, Ed.D., first lady of the University of Missouri, will talk about leadership, women, balance and her long career in education and public administration, and public service.

The conversation will be moderated by Dianne Lynch, Ph.D., president of Stephens College.

In addition to her current role as MU’s first lady, Dr. Deaton holds adjunct faculty appointments in three MU Colleges: Human Environmental Sciences, Sinclair School of Nursing, and Education. Her career began more than 20 years ago at Virginia Tech, where she served as assistant director of the Center for Gerontology, and continued with a teaching position with the MU Department of Human Development and Family Studies. Later Deaton served as deputy director at the Missouri Division of Aging and most recently as director of the Missouri Division of Developmental Disabilities.

Beyond full-time volunteer work for MU, Deaton’s community involvement extends to organizations such as the Missouri 4-H Foundation, Parent Link, StepUp! For Rwandan Women, Boone County Coordinating Board for Early Childhood Education, Rotary Club of Columbia, and Osher Life Long Learning Board. She also serves on the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurological Studies Advisory Board and the American Association of University Women.

Deaton’s past service includes volunteer work in the U.S. and abroad. She has four married children and seven grandchildren.
