Stephens College Commencement
Stephens College President Dianne Lynch conferred 148 bachelorís degrees, as well as 59 masterís and four post-bachelorís degrees, during two commencement ceremonies in early May.
In lieu of a keynote speaker, the undergraduate ceremony this year included a video tribute to students. Student Government Association President Logan Weber, who graduated Cum Laude, used her remarks to reflect on the classís time at Stephens.
While many fashion, film, theatre, dance and other students are headed to the east and west coasts to start their careers, Brittny Goran, a Columbia native, actually decided to use her talents right here at home. She accepted a position at Veteransí United Home Loans, a rapidly growing mortgage center. There, Brittny will work alongside beloved Columbia television personality Sarah Hill. Brittny was director of Creative Ink, the student-run marketing firm on campus.
Weber and Caroline Sheridan are headed out of the country this summer to wrap up their elective coursework. Theyíll spend time in Florence, Italy, learning culinary arts and Italian culture. When she returns, Caroline has work lined up with PGA of America in the merchandising department.
Some new Stephens graduates arenít looking for employers, but they might need employees soon. Maggie Ivich and Katlin Smith plan to open their own mobile boutique business in Austin, and Jacqueline Madey is starting her own clothing line in St. Louis.
