New Faculty Faces
This fall, Stephens College welcomed three new full-time faculty: Dr. Jennifer (Jenna) Andrews-McClymont, Psychology department; Caroline Bartek, School of Design and Fashion; and Joshua Nichol-Caddy, Film and Media department. Throughout the month of September, they each will be profiled in Inside Stephens. First up is Dr. Andrews-McClymont.
Name: Dr. Jennifer (Jenna) G. Andrews-McClymont
Department: Psychology
Title: Assistant professor
Courses I teach: Intro to Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, Theories of Personality in Psychology
Favorite part about teaching: seeing students get excited about research
Reason I chose to teach at Stephens: because it is a small, liberal arts college, I will have the ability to work more closely with students than at a larger university; and because it is women-only, I will be able to fulfill my commitment to empowering women especially via intellectual and professional means.
I hope to teach every student: the value of intellectual curiosity (and skepticism!) as life-long vocations
The last book I read/am reading: Winter Garden
Summer activities: getting packed and moving from Atlanta mostly with a little bit of travel worked in here and there (and a great deal of time enjoying my son, as he has begun to walk and talk!)
Previous teaching experience/employment: I was a teaching assistant and associate at Emory University as well as a lab instructor for methods and statistics.
Community involvement: I have had the great honor of working with Vietnam vets in the past in a clinical capacity and hope to continue this type of work at the V.A. in Columbia once I've had a chance to lay down my roots!
Hobbies: Ballet, piano, painting, photography, travel, poetry, film
Favorite place in Columbia: so far, Stephens (my new home!)
Most people don't know: I have both a professional and academic background in art (extensive work in galleries for the former, and both a B.A. and an M.A. in Art History for the latter). I am devoted to the coupling of art and psychology!
Opening This Week: Fashion Circus
Fashion is a circus. There is the excitement and masquerade of dressing to please others and ourselves, and the bravery of the ring-leaders of fashion, those who take risks, break rules and act as renegades. The Stephens College Museum and Research Library's exhibit “Greatest Show on Earth: Fashion Circus” features a big-top display of fashion.

Dates: Sept. 10-Dec. 15; noon-3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday and 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday; Opening reception: noon-3 p.m., Sept. 10
Location: Historic Costume Gallery, mezzanine floor of Lela Raney Wood Hall, 6 N. College Ave.
