May 2011 Commencement
Stephens will confer 171 bachelor’s, four post-bachelor’s and 57 master’s degrees during two Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 7. A total of 199 graduates are expected to participate.

Keynote Speaker: Gillian Silver-Rodis '82, Ph.D. (pictured), the managing partner of Strategic Resource Consulting Group, LLC and a member of the Stephens graduate faculty. She has taught nearly two decades in the higher education arena on the undergraduate, graduate and doctorate level.
Class Speakers: Dawn Sherrill '09 of Columbia, Mo., will be the graduate class speaker. She will earn an M.Ed. in Counseling. Mary R. Minkin of Woodland Hills, Calif., will be the undergraduate class speaker. She will receive a B.A. in Liberal Studies.

Keynote Speaker: Gail Collins (pictured), author and The New York Times writer. She is the first woman ever appointed editor of The Times’ editorial page.
Class Speaker: Sascha Streckel of Kempner, Texas, who will graduate summa cum laude with a B.F.A. in Theatre Arts.

Zany, high-spirited and a musical romp are all descriptions of the amazing closing musical produced by the Stephens College School of Performing Arts. It takes place in New York City in 1922 and tells the story of young Millie Dillmount. The city is full of intrigue and jazz, and the audience is treated to an evening of rousing songs and bright dance numbers. People of all ages should pack up their troubles and come to the Macklanburg for a spring celebration as a thoroughly modern Millie charms us all.

“Ladder of Success” shows how the rise of women in the workplace and the fashion that accompanied their success worked in tandem toward attaining a powerful presence there.
