Broadway Casting Director Visit
The Stephens Theatre department is pleased to announce that esteemed Broadway casting director Merri Sugarman is coming to campus on Saturday, April 16 for all-day showcase and workshop with the senior B.F.A. Acting candidates.
A member of the Casting Society of America, Merri works for Tara Rubin Casting, a female-owned business that is one of the most respected casting houses in the country and a winner of the Artios Award, the casting industry’s highest honor. Some of her projects include the Broadway productions of “Billy Elliot: The Musical,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Mamma Mia,” “Mary Poppins,” “Jersey Boys,” “Spamalot,” “A Little Night Music” and “Young Frankenstein,” as well as projects with San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre, Yale Repertory Theatre, and countless television credits.
Merri will work with the seniors on their audition skills, offer individual feedback, and participate in a Q&A session. This is an extraordinary opportunity for our students to work with a nationally respected professional at the industry’s highest level.
