Student Ribbons
Freshman Elsie Vieira,
riding her Morgan horse, recently won the Working Hunter
Reserve World Championship at the Grand National & World
Championship Morgan Horse Show. Elsie had many good wins
in her classes, including a first- and two-second place
finishes. Elsie and her horse were also fourth in the World
Champion Low Working Hunters Championship Division. Elsie,
herself, placed third in the AMHA Equitation Medal Class
and third in the Equitation over Fences, 17 years &
under Class. Elsie and her horse also placed third in the
Junior/Amateur Hunter class.
—Dianna Rankin, Equestrian Studies
Senior Rachel Duff,
an Equine minor, rode Doing Something Right ("Billy")
to a third-place over fences win on Oct. 13 at the American
Royal in Kansas City. Rachel rode against some of the top
professionals and horses in the nation. The class had well
over 20 horses in the division. It is quite an accomplishment
for our hunter/jumper discipline. I couldn’t be more
proud.
