"Chords & Threads" Opens This Week
The exhibit “Chords &
Threads: Rhythm - Movement - Style” opens in
the Stephens College Historic Costume Gallery, mezzanine
level of Lela Raney Wood Hall, on Saturday, Jan. 23
from 12-3 p.m., with a special "sneak
peek" available to Stephens faculty and staff
this Friday.
From the Cake Walk to Hip Hop, fashion, music and
dance have enjoyed a symbiotic relationship. The exhibit
invites you to visualize sound through the prints,
fringes, and silhouettes of fashionable dress in the
20th century.
Gallery visitors will be prompted to watch specific
video clips on portable video players that coincide
with several garments and accessories. For instance,
the red leather suit pictured above (circa 1985) can
be viewed while watching a video clip of Michael Jackson’s
“Thriller."
