| Faces Lacey Blue By Courtney Miget Stephens College senior Lacey Blue’s dream is to be involved in the entertainment industry. A mass communications major with an emphasis in broadcasting, Blue has already had four internships broadcasting for both television and radio since graduating from high school. Blue, a native of Hannibal, had an internship with a CBS affiliate in Quincy, Ill., the summer before she left for college. It solidified her decision to major in mass communications. “I decided to go to Stephens because it is hands-on earlier,” Blue said. “I could take broadcasting classes as a freshman.” This past summer Blue interned at MTV Satellite Radio, MTV’s 24-hour radio station, and at VH1 Radio Network in New York. At MTV Satellite Radio she picked out songs and placed commercials for two- and three-hour radio programs. For VH1 Radio Network, she wrote a weekly newsletter that went out to all of its affiliates. Blue said getting the internships was easier than she thought it would be. “I found out about the internships through Sandy King, a professor I had,” Blue said. “She gave me the name of a student she had taught that works at MTV, I e-mailed her my resume and then their human resources people called me to set up a phone interview. At the end of the interview the guy was like, if you want the internship you have it.” Back to News and Events |
