P.W.C. History : The Prince of Wales Club, established in 1926, is one of the oldest continually active riding clubs in the country. The group is known for the large charity horse show they organize and manage each year. Members not only work at the show, but run the computer programs, create the prize list, handle stabling, hire all event staff, secure sponsorships, purchase class prizes, deal with all of the small show details, and much more!

The club is a close-knit group of girls - some are equestrian majors, some are not - who love horses and enjoy many activities together. PWC is a student-run organization that does many activities throughout the year to foster relationships among members, as well as to provide unique educational opportunities, and industry networking opportunities to its members. PWC members also engage in exciting, member-only events and field trips throughout the school year.

What We Do: Halloween Fun Show, field trip to the corn maze, movie night, pool/pizza party, barn clean-up days, PWC spirit week, mud volleyball, field trip to a haunted house and volunteer work at a huge draft sale and youth horse show, plus much more!

Annual Prince of Wales Charity Horse Show :

For 81 years, the Prince of Wales Club has put on an annual horse show. For many years, a highlight of Columbia’s spring social season was the Prince of Wales Club horse show. Held on usually balmy April evenings, the horse show showcased the skills that riders had honed and developed while studying at Stephens College and thrilled audiences with the manners, quality and performance of the horses that had been donated to the program by supportive alumni and friends. A full slate of classes were offered—from Open Jumper to Western Pleasure to 5-Gaited Open—before a packed house. Recently, the PWC show has been held at Midway Exposition Center for all riding disciplines. In the past few years, it has even become a charity event that benefits various civic organizations. The show is organized, planned, and put on by PWC students with a little help from the supportive instructors.

This year, PWC members voted to bring the show back to Stephens in celebration of the 175 th anniversary of Stephens College.
