The Renaissance of
Stephens College
Together, we can give young women from around the world the opportunity to be Stephens Women.
As Stephens College greets this threshold in her history, our alumnae and friends stand together, recognizing the reality and needs of the present, the traditions of the past and the possibilities of the future.
Over the next few years, our chief goals are to achieve financial stability and to continue providing the best and most innovative educational experiences for our students. We are concentrating on securing Stephens’ future with significant increases in enrollment, operating funds and endowment. These efforts require united and focused support from the entire Stephens family.
The Renaissance Fund represents the first phase of the initiative created to regain the financial health of the College. The Fund is named to demonstrate the renewal of Stephens as we move the College in a new and positive direction, while maintaining the traditions and quality educational experience women expect from Stephens.
Three-year Pledge Plan
Since one of the College’s highest priorities is to secure commitments from her alumnae and friends, we are offering the Three-Year Pledge Plan as a way to support the Renaissance Fund. These pledges signify long-term support of Stephens and increase the College’s charitable giving rate by ensuring donor participation. This long-term support is critical to our financial health, increases the likelihood of the College receiving grant monies, and is a factor in the College’s rankings, which impact our ability to attract students.
Operating Funds
An increased emphasis on raising operating dollars is a significant component of the Renaissance Fund. Additional operating funds will provide the resources necessary to bridge us through our turnaround and will signify to foundations and corporations that we have the support of those who are vested in the College’s future.
Scholarship Funds
Attracting and retaining students are critical to the continued success of Stephens. Competition for students necessitates the investment of scholarship dollars by the College. Strong support of our scholarship programs will enhance the College’s ability to increase enrollment while maintaining a standard of excellence within academic programs and the student body.
Named Annual Scholarship Program
The Named Annual Scholarship Program enables donors to establish a three-year named scholarship for a minimum commitment of $2,500 annually over each of three years. The first named annual scholarships, which may be in the donor’s name or in the name of someone the donor wishes to honor, were awarded for the 2005-06 academic year.
Lela Raney Wood Hall
While the public areas of LRW – the ballroom and mezzanine areas, including the Katharine Audrey Webb Costume Gallery and Fashion Classrooms – will reopen by spring 2006, renovations are still taking place in other areas of the building. By supporting the Renaissance Fund, you will allow the College to complete the restoration of this campus landmark.
