- Two new computer labs (Macintosh, Windows)
with a total of 44 computers have been added to the lower
level of the Library.
- The Stamper Commons bridges have been
resurfaced and painted.
- The retaining wall at the entrance of
Hickman Hall has been replaced.
- Two fashion design labs have been
created in Dudley Hall.
- The second floor Walter Hall classroom
and hallway have been renovated.
- Windsor Auditorium was renovated
with new seats, wall paper, carpet and paint. The stage
was also refinished.
- Shower upgrades have been completed in
Pillsbury and Roblee halls. This job also included the installation
of drop ceilings with exhaust fans and new lights.
- Custom-fit replacement windows for Pillsbury
and Roblee halls have been installed.
- The second floor of Pillsbury Hall has
been refurbished.
- Renovations, including the addition of
new furniture, to the lobbies and lounges of Pillsbury and
Roblee halls are complete.
- Computer laboratories have been established
in the residence halls.
- The new roof, lighting, footings and
rails for the EQS riding arena have been finished.
- Columbia Foyer has been renovated, including
new finishes, wall treatment, hard surface, carpeting and
furniture. The source of many leaks in the adjoining hallway,
Columbia Foyer and Dudley Hall has been identified and repaired.
- Significant improvements have been made
to the Stamper Commons dining area, including complete painting,
new carpet and lighting, table relamination and new seating
upholstery. Student-service offices have been relocated
to the Commons and dedicated, and the Stamper Commons lounge
("Pit") has been renovated with new furnishings
and carpeting.
- New carpeting has been installed in the
Library, Macklanburg Playhouse and the Audrey Webb Child
Study Center. The interior of the Library has been repainted.
- The Hugh Stephens Library is now automated
as part of MOBIUS.
- Fifteen two-room apartments have been
created in Hillcrest Hall as a housing option for our seniors.
- The Pillsbury Science Center, Fashion/Art
Area, Lela Raney Wood Hall, Hugh Stephens Library, the Visitors
Center and Wood Hall have received new roofs.
- The roof on the Warehouse Theatre has
been covered with a latex coating that has improved its
appearance, stopped leaks and significantly reduced energy
consumption.
- A new air-conditioning system was installed
in the front dance studio in the lower level of Stephens
Auditorium. This room also has been repainted and a new
sprung dance floor has been installed. A curtain and additional
mirrors and dance rails have been installed.
- Building and boundary signage, the main
campus marker and illuminated maps are complete. Approximately
200 parking spaces have been added to campus property to
serve students, faculty, staff and visitors.
- The Sports Arena/Facilities Building
has been constructed. The John and Mary Silverthorne Arena
is being utilized for our NCAA III basketball and volleyball
teams.
- The Tower Hall lobby has been repaired.
This work included replacing damaged wall coverings and
broken floor tile.
- A new air conditioning system has been
installed in the Learning Center. This gives us the cooling
capacity to troubleshoot controls problems throughout the
Learning Center complex.
- Additions to the rear and front of Old
South Auditorium, as well as the section connecting the
auditorium to Historic Senior Hall, have been removed, allowing
for potential renovation of the original structure.
- New heating systems have been installed
in Hickman, Wood and Senior halls, replacing the old units
removed from the Old South Auditorium addition. These mechanical
changes have provided better service delivery and energy
savings.
- $4.7 million has been pledged for
the complete restoration of Lela Raney Wood Hall, to commence
in 2002.
- The $250,000 Faculty Initiative Fund
is completely endowed.
- $3.5 million has been raised for new
endowed scholarships.
- An additional $6.7 million in endowment
has been pledged.
- A satellite point-to-point connection
has been established from the visitors center to the rest
of the campus.
- A wireless Internet connection has been
established in the residence halls, with access points throughout
campus.
- Approximately $400,000 in science equipment
has been received from the National Institutes of Health.
- Smart classrooms, utilizing new technology,
have been added throughout the Learning Center to support
academic programs.
