The College as a Community

Stephens College does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, geographic origin or disability in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan, and other college-administered programs; or in its employment practices. Stephens College is guided by both the letter and the spirit of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, Title IX of the Higher Education Act of 1972 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Inquiries regarding compliance with these policies of nondiscrimination may be directed to Stephens College, Columbia, MO 65215.

Rights and Responsibilities
In addition to taking full advantage of the educational opportunities available, students have the responsibility to conduct themselves in a manner that is best for their own welfare and that of the entire College community. Students have the right to complete their degree under the academic requirements listed in the catalog in which they are accepted provided they remain continuously enrolled. Students are responsible for the current policies and procedures in the Stephens College Graduate & Continuing Studies (GCS) Catalog.

Obligation of the College in the Event of Curtailment of Programs
Stephens College will not be obligated to refund any fees for tuition or other charges, nor will it assume liability for any kind of curtailment of operations resulting from weather, accident, fire, war, or riot; nor from lack of faculty or other personnel, lack of materials, supplies, or equipment, or any cause not involving gross negligence on the part of the College.

Disabilities: Learning and/or Physical
Stephens College prohibits unlawful discrimination against qualified students with disabilities and encourages their full participation within the College community. All faculty, staff and administrators will actively support students with disabilities in all the College educational programs, services and activities.

It is the responsibility of the qualified student with a disability to voluntarily and confidentially disclose information regarding the nature and extent of the disability.  The student must complete a Learning Differences form located on the Graduate & Continuing Studies website and submit along with required supplemental materials to the Graduate & Continuing Studies Director Advising and Student Services.
