Master of Education in Counseling
Licensed Professional Counseling - Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) Emphasis
The Marriage & Family Therapy specialization
will partially fulfill the requirements to become a Licensed Marriage
and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Missouri. Students
in this specialization will take 16 courses (48 credit hours) and nine
hours of practicum experience in marriage and family therapy. After
completing the master's degree requirements, students will be prepared
to take both the LPC and LMFT exams. Both licenses require completion
of supervised post-degree experience prior to full licensure.

Committee for Professional Counselors.

Degree
Candidacy and Graduation Requirements
Students are eligible to apply for M.Ed. candidacy upon:
- Completion of Practicum I with a 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Submission of a self-evaluation
- Submission of a recommendation from a Practicum I supervisor and field placement supervisor
M.Ed. degree candidates must attain a minimum 3.0 GPA in each of their remaining program courses.
Post-Graduate Certificate in Marriage & Family Therapy
Students with a master's degree in counseling and/or Licensed Professional Counselors who wish to complete a post-graduate certificate in Marriage & Family Therapy must complete the following courses:
