Master of Education in Counseling
Application and Admission
All prospective students must submit the following:

$40 application fee

Official college transcript

A 300-500 word Statement of Purpose, including an evaluation of goals

Current resume

TOEFL score, if English is not the first language
- A criminal background check through the Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR)
Entry requirements include:
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work
- Nine hours of coursework in the social sciences (e.g., education, social work, psychology, sociology, human services/development, criminal justice)
- Preferred courses in social science
- Introduction to Psychology
- Introduction to Sociology
- Human Development/Development Psychology
- Abnormal Psychology
Students with a bachelor's degree in a field other than education must complete two additional courses for school counselor certification.

Entrance exams such as the GRE are not required for admission.
