Student Success

It was the best summer of her life, says Stephens Film student Sky Robinson, who joined the film crew of The Way, Way Back (2013) starring Steve Carell and Maya Rudolph. During her internship, Robinson rose from the intern-who-grabs-the-coffee to production assistant. Persistence and self-confidence, two traits honed at Stephens, helped Sky secure and succeed in this incredible opportunity, she says.

According to Sky, “I knew I wanted the internship, so I was persistent in applying. Even though I was halfway across the country, I drove two days to be at the interview. It showed that I was dedicated. And I continued to dedicate myself to the film and give my best every single day.

“I wouldn’t have been able to do this if it weren’t for the confidence instilled in me through the encouragement of my teachers here at Stephens. They are so invested in students’ futures,” she says. “The opportunities I’ve had here have been unbelievable; Stephens is exactly where I need to be to begin my film career.”
