STEPHENS STARS SIGN MAGGIE SEE AS NAIA SOFTBALL RECRUIT FOR 2006-2007
COLUMBIA ,
Mo. - Stephens College announces the signing of Maggie See, a
senior at Knox County High School in Edina , Mo. , for the 2006-2007
softball season. See, a first baseman, will sign as the
first player for the Stephens Stars softball program on Jan. 6,
2006. In 2006-07, Stephens also will add cross country to its
NAIA sports teams, which include volleyball, basketball, swimming
and tennis.
During high school play, See provided valuable leadership on and off the field for the Lady Eagles. As a junior, See batted .303 in 23 games, and in her senior season, she held a .325 average with 15 RBI's, leading Knox County in on-base percentage in 18 games. She also has experience playing in the outfield. Her excellence on the softball field has brought her the following 2005 awards: Honorable Mention All Tri-Rivers Conference Team and Knox County Lady Eagles Defensive Player of the Year.
"Maggie will bring maturity and enthusiasm to our new ball team. She is a left hander who will provide a valuable bat in our lineup by putting the ball in play," said Chris Collier, Stephens College head softball coach. "I'm most excited about her defensive presence and work ethic. Her conference Honorable Mention speaks to her abilities as the Tri-Rivers Conference is arguably the most talented softball league in Missouri."
