STARS SIGN KELSI SIMPSON
AS NAIA CROSS COUNTRY RECRUIT FOR 2009
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Stephens College announces the signing of
Kelsi Simpson, a senior at Oldham County High School in Buckner,
Ky., for the 2009 season. Simpson signed her letter of intent on
March 13, 2009, on the Stephens College campus. Simpson earned the
following awards during her high school career:
High School Honors and Awards:
o Team Newcomer of the Year (2005)
o Sportsmanship Award (2006, 2008)
o Team Captain (2008)

o Personal Record: 21:19 (5K)
o Junior Varsity Race Winner (2005, 2006)
o Team 6th in AAA State Meet (2005, 2006, 2008)
o Team 2nd in AAA Regional Meet (2006)
o Team 3rd in AAA Regional Meet (2005, 2007)
“Kelsi has a great amount of potential to be an outstanding
collegiate runner,” says Dane Pavlovich, Stephens College
head cross country coach and associate athletic director. “She
has a strong work ethic, and she will continue to improve her times
and performances in her four years at Stephens.”
Stephens offers National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics
(NAIA) sports teams in basketball, cross country, softball, swimming,
tennis and volleyball. The College began play in the American Midwest
Conference in Fall 2008.
Stephens College, established in 1833, is historically committed

in an innovative educational experience focused on pre-professional
fields and the performing arts and grounded in the liberal arts.
