STARS SIGN SABRINA MANNING
AS NAIA BASKETBALL RECRUIT FOR 2006-2007
As a senior, Manning averaged 17 points (team high), 6 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 2.2 assists per game. Manning shot 44% from the field, 81% from the free throw line (team high, fourth place in state) and 46% from three-point range (team high). She also scored in double figures 27 of 29 games.
Her excellence on the basketball court has brought her the following awards: First Team All-County, Team District 48 Champions, District 48 All-Tournament Team, Team Free Throw Shooting Champion, 14-and-Under AAU State Champions, and Cookeville, Tenn., Blue Chip Camp participant (freshman year, South Laurel High School); Team District 48 Champions, Team Region 12 Runner-Up, District 48 All-Tournament Team, 15-and-Under AAU State Champions, Villanova University Blue Chip “Invitation Only” Camp participant, Cookeville, Tenn., Blue Chip Camp participant, Kentucky Junior All-Star Blue Chip Elite Team participant, and Las Vegas U.S. Junior Nationals Blue Chip Elite Team participant (sophomore year, South Laurel High School); Team District 46 Champions, District 46 All-Tournament Team, Team Free Throw Shooting Champion, Team Champions at “The Rock” Tournament in Florida, Team Region 12 Runner-Up, and Ohio University Skills Camp “Invitation Only” Participant (junior year, Mercer County High School); and Team Owensboro Catholic Tournament Champions, All-Tournament Team: Owensboro Catholic Tournament, Team District 46 Champions, District 46 All-Tournament Team, Region 12 All-Tournament Team, All-Area, and leading senior scorer in Region 12 (senior year, Mercer County High School).
“Sabrina has the ability to play all the positions on the court,” said Dane Pavlovich, Stephens College head basketball coach and associate athletic director. “She has a tremendous work ethic, a passion for the game, and a desire to continue to improve. She has earned many accolades while in high school, which will translate to an outstanding career at Stephens. In addition, she is fantastic in the classroom and will undoubtedly succeed here in many ways.”
