COLUMBIA , Mo. – Stephens College announces the signing of Vanessa Koonce, a sophomore at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Mo., for the 2008-2009 basketball season. Koonce, a 5'8” guard, signed her letter of intent on Monday, March 31st at 11:30am, at State Fair Community College. Stephens also offers NAIA sports teams in cross country, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball.

Basketball Honors and Accomplishments:

• 2nd Team All Region
• 7th in the nation in three point percentage (44.85%)
• All Tournament Team at Three Rivers Community College Tournament
• Academic All America Candidate
• 2nd Team All Conference (Skyline High School)
• Team Conference Champions (Skyline High School)

Sophomore Year Basketball Statistics:

• 8.5 points per game
• 81.8% free throw percentage
• 74 made three pointers

"Vanessa will be an asset to the Stephens Basketball Team as she has played a high level for a national level program for the past two seasons,” said Dane Pavlovich, Associate Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach. “She is a tremendous shooter and that skill will be a definite plus for the next two years. Vanessa also is a very strong student who will fit in well in that regard here as well."
