stephens college basketball signs shelby cearlock as naia basketball recruit for 2009
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Stephens College announces the signing of Shelby Cearlock, a senior at Vandalia High School in Vandalia, Ill., for the 2009-2010 season. Cearlock signed her letter of intent on May 12, 2009, at Vandalia High School. Cearlock earned the following awards during her high school career:
High School Basketball Honors:
- 2 nd Team All State (2008 - 2009)
- First Team All Conference (2007 - 2009)
- Mattoon Holiday Tournament MVP (2008 - 2009)
- All Tournament Team – Mattoon Holiday Tournament (2007 - 2009)
- Four-year varsity starter
- WVBA select program participant
Senior Year High School Basketball Statistics and Awards:
- 12.0 points per game
- 3.0 rebounds per game
- 3.0 assists per game
- 72% free throw percentage
- 1,174 career points
- Team finished 28-2
“Shelby had an extremely successful high school career,” says Dane Pavlovich, Stephens College head basketball coach and associate athletic director. “She helped lead her team to quality seasons throughout four years at Vandalia High School, and I am looking forward to her using that experience at Stephens.”
Stephens offers National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) sports teams in basketball, cross country, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball. The College began play in the American Midwest Conference in Fall 2008.-30-
