stephens college signs kelsea whitten as naia basketball recruit for 2010
COLUMBIA , Mo. – Stephens College announces the signing of Kelsea Whitten, a senior at Gentry High School in Gentry, AR, for the 2010-2011 season. Whitten signed her letter of intent on March 29, 2010, at Gentry High School. Whitten earned the following awards during her high school career:
High School Basketball Honors:
- Team Sophomore of the Year
- Represented Arkansas in Junior Nationals Tournament
- All Northwest Arkansas Invitational Tournament team (2008-09 and 2009-10)
- All Conference Team (2008-2009 and 2009-2010)
- Top 25 Tournament team member (2008-2009)
- KURM Dream Team (2008-2009 and 2009-2010)
- 1 st in the Conference in most three pointers made (2009-2010)
Senior Year High School Basketball Statistics and Awards:
- 8.6 points per game
- 2.4 rebounds per game
- 2.5 assists per game
- 1.0 steals per game
- 76% free throw percentage
- 37% three point percentage
“Kelsea had a very good high school career playing for a very good program.” says Dane Pavlovich, Stephens College head basketball coach and associate athletic director. “Kelsea will immediately add a three point shooting threat to our team, and she can play both guard positions. Additionally, she is a quality student who will make an impact in the classroom as well.”
Stephens offers National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) sports teams in basketball, cross country, softball, swimming, tennis and volleyball. The College began play in the American Midwest Conference in Fall 2008.-30-
